10 Decorating Ideas For Small Size Bedrooms

Left with small space for bedroom? Here are 10 best home decoration ideas that you can implement to make your bedroom look spacious and stylish on the same hand.

Paint the walls white

One of the best ways to make your small bedroom look spacious is painting the walls in white. Light colors make everything look open and wide even if space is cramped. However, if you are not in favour of giving a completely white look to your room, off-white, Ivory, Cream, Beige, Linen, Antique white, Dutch White, and Vanilla are some other shades that will enhance the feeling of space in your room.

Image via Pinterest

Use space saving furniture

This is another best way of freeing up some space in your room. The king and queen size beds take up a lot of floor space – replace them with any stylish under storage beds, easily available in markets and save some area on the floor. You can also get it customized with the help of a local carpenter. Add space saving furniture with lots of storage like a book shelf, mini closet, side table, hanging nightstands, etc. to widen the floor area visually.

Image via Pinterest

Add mirrors to visually expand the room

A mirror reflects light and creates an optical illusion. It makes your room look bigger and stylish on the same hand. It also works like an additional window to a room and creates depth while adding dimension to small bedrooms. One can either add a single large mirror in the center wall of their room or place many mirrors of different sizes on a single wall.

Image via Pinterest

Lighten up the room

Choose interesting lights to add a charming effect to your room. By implementing smart lighting solution, you can save a lot of chance of making your bedroom look cramped. You can also use frosted lighting and create a peaceful ambiance by softening the dark corners of the room. One can also add a chandelier or inbuilt table lamp to save someplace on the bedroom floor. The natural light is another way of helping a small room feels airy. For this, one must allow natural light to get in the room from the window.

Image via Pinterest

Raise your curtains high

Don’t believe us? Hang curtains closer to the ceiling and you will see the instant change in the appearance of your bedroom. It will not only enhance the height of ceiling visually but also improves the feeling of total room space.

Keep your bedroom clean

The best way to make your room look visually spacious is by keeping it clutter-free with very fewer pieces of furniture. You can take away all the unwanted stuff lying on the floor and keep them in a basket. By doing this you can create more space on the floor. A neat and tidy room not only appears big but also maintains its own style and beauty.

Add furniture with soft edges

Furniture with rounded edges adds more space to a room. They take up less floor space and look stylish on the same hand. You can select rounded side tables with hidden storage and add slender chair to help widen floor space. Furniture that is painted in white color too expands a small room visually.

Color the right places

Make sure that you highlight color at all the right places like on cushions, paintings, on a rug or a couch. By adding colorful stuff in an otherwise restful and calm room, you can incorporate style with little bit of extra space at least visually. If your bedding is white or beige in color with a neutral headboard, try putting in colorful pillows to pop color into the center of your small room.

Image via Pinterest

Place larger piece of furniture first

Large furniture occupies maximum portion of the floor, therefore it’s important to first place a bigger piece of furniture in your room followed by other fittings. Since bed and wardrobe occupies maximum floor space, they need to be installed first. Remaining fixtures such as side table, chair, storage baskets, etc. can be placed depending upon the need and area left in the room.

Incorporate adorable hanging stands

One of the most innovative ways of saving some place on the floor is adding hanging nightstands in your room. You can get different varieties of hanging nightstands at any furniture market near your home. This will also enhance the beauty of your room by giving it a very different look.

5 Things You Should Stop Doing While designing Kids Room

Designing a kid room is a tricky business but with the right planning and unique ideas, you can give your child a comfortable yet stylish space. Children these days are very particular when it comes to certain colors and design. It’s important to know your child’s taste, their need and what is actually good for them.

Today pink is no more a girl color and blue, a boy color. The best way of designing a kid’s room is creating a happy and welcoming atmosphere. Here is a list of things you should avoid doing while designing kids room.

More use of warm colors

Image via Pinterest

Kids love bright and peppy colors like purple, green, yellow, pink, red and blue. More use of warm colors can give dull look to kid’s room. Explore your child’s likeness for certain sets of color theme and pattern before making a final layout. Ask your child to choose their favorite color from the rainbow or the color box and create pattern and theme on the basis of their color choices. Good lighting and vivid color shades can make kids room look vibrant.

Making study table less appealing

Image via Pinterest

A lot of parents look for a simple study table for their kids as they think it is only used while doing homework or while studying. Remember, kids, love things that not just feel good but look good so their study table should be visually appealing to help them study, play, and develop ideas. A study cum computer table with ample storage space that can take care of kids many utilities and a comfortable chair is what your child needs.

Restricting to cartoon and animated characters

Image via Pinterest

Think beyond animated characters that are being part of every child’s room for so many years. The theme of kid’s room should match the personality of your child. There are many themes available in markets like the starry night, underwater scenery, outer space, airplanes, rainbows, campfire, snow, or jungle theme. To keep the kids going, you can create a play zone with an Indoor climbing wall or install chalkboard art wall or craft paper wall to display their unique artwork.

Too much stuffing in the room

Image via Pinterest

Avoid stuffing room with too many furniture or décor or toys. Leave some space for movement as kids like to go around in their room. Other than a bed and a study table, a kid’s room should have some space for seating and storage. Furniture should be made in a way that it has inner storage as kids tend to have many toys and the number of which keeps increasing

Paying less attention to lights

Image via Pinterest

Light is one of the most important parts of a room interior. Dull and plain lights are a major drawback for kids as they want their space to be bright and radiant. Parents must install good quality overhead lights and wall lamps to light up their child’s room. If your child loves being a rock star, install a spotlight to bring into focus a mini stage. And, if he/she is a nature lover, keep space for at least one window for natural light and fresh air to come in.

7 Things to Keep In Mind While Hiring An Interior Designer

If you have recently bought a home, and are willing to give it an exclusive touch, there can be nothing better than hiring a professional to get the job done. Before getting started with the same, it is important to know why should you hire an Interior Designer. Interior designers are qualified people who have in-depth knowledge of architecture and design. The creativity, style of work and home décor ideas of architects are different from that of common people. Hiring an expert & giving him the responsibility of decorating your house according to your desire is always a cherry on the cake. However, before signing any deal with an interior designing firm makes sure you follow these steps for a smooth journey. Here are a few things you should look at while signing an Interior designer’s contract.

  1. Be clear about your style and budget

Before coming to any conclusion, ask yourself- what is my style and how much can I actually spend on the interior decoration of my home. Some designers are very specific about certain styles and designs. It is important to identify your requirements so that you can hire someone who can understand your style and give you the best he/she can within the specified budget. Arrange as many meetings with your architect as possible to know what he/she is planning for your home. You can share your thoughts with your designer and openly discuss your likes and dislikes if any. Move ahead with the plan if you feel confident within.

  1. Seek recommendation, research, and sort list the best Interior Designer

Take some time out and ask your friends, family, and relatives for possible leads. Spend some time on the Internet and find someone who understands your requirement. Go through various Interior design websites and look for as much information as possible about the designer and his work. You can even call up their past clients and visit them to see the designer’s previous works. Compare three to four designers and sort list the best one among them. It is always better to seek the recommendation of others before you finalize a good designer.

  1. Define your ideas, budget, and timelines to designer in first meeting

It is important to define your ideas about decorating a dream home to your designer. They should understand your taste as well as requirement to be able to design your house using their creativity. Another important step is to define your budget and timelines to the designer as most of the conflicts occur from lack of clarity on these aspects. As a client, you must understand that decorating a home is a long and expensive affair. Most of the times either the budget or timeline exceeds, so you need to stay prepared in advance. Such things should be made clear to you by your architect before you say yes to the project.

4. Discuss design and work plan

While discussing the interior design ideas and plan-layout with the designer make sure that you tell him all your requirements. Once the designer is clear about your taste he can provide you a visual representation of the project in the form of 3D designs and blueprints. This will help you understand how your space will look after the designing process is over. You can give suggestions to the designer if you want to change any particular thing in the blueprint. You must also check with the designer the materials that will be used in the process, and ask them to present you an inventory of colors, codes, finishes, and more.

  1. Discuss policies and payment method

It is important to discuss company policies and understand the mode in which the designer shall take the payment to avoid any kind of misunderstanding. Both the parties must agree to the terms and conditions mutually and only after that, the designer must start the project. It is always better to discuss every detail of your home before the contract is being signed. If you feel you have found the right person to design your house, ask for a written contract with all the terms and conditions mentioned clearly on paper.

  1. Understand Company Work Style & process

Every company works in a different way. If you are not sure about the working style of your designer, ask him about their work process. Find out if they will involve you in the project and allow you to intervene in few things. Also, ask your architect how are they going to execute the project and how much time are they going to take to finish the assignment. If all these things are discussed beforehand, the execution of the project will be smooth and hassle-free.

  1. Hire the designer

If all the above things are discussed beforehand and you are completely satisfied with what the architect promises to offer, hire the designer immediately. Interior designers are professional people who have deep knowledge of home designing. If you really want to make the journey of building a dream home stress-free, go ahead and hire an Interior designer today.
